The STEPA forestry cranes are specially designed for use on forestry trailers. The support is integrated into the forestry trailer giving the whole trailer a lower centre of gravity. The cranes are characterised by their optimum shape which creates greater manoeuvrability, greater lifting force, particularly over the posts, and a short parking length. Each crane is supplied with a strong 4.5t rotator and the patented EPSLINK link from Epsilon fitted as standard. In all double telescopic cranes, the hoses are also internally routed in the boom system, providing great protection against damage. After all, a forestry trailer is only worthwhile with a good crane.

Our products in action

The smaller double telescope crane has a lifting moment of 4.2mt or 5,2mt and a reach of 7.5m or 8,2m. It's slimline and lightweiht construction means it has a very high lifting force. Like every STEPA crane, it is fitted with the EPSLINK link and a 4.5t rotator.
Specifications
- Fitted with double slewing system
- New mounted knuckle boom
- Patented EPSLINK
- 4.5t rotator
- Large slewing torque of 13kNm or 16kNm
- S700 fine grain steel rolled by VOEST
- Low tare weight, high lifting capacity
- Quality and expertise from Austria
- Cathodic dip-painting & powder coating
- Safety equipment (emergency stop, etc.)

The forestry crane with an 8.5m reach is available in two lifting classes of 5.2 & 6.2 mt lifting moment. Due to its large telescope range, the crane still has a short parking length despite its large total reach. The knee lever between the lifting boom and the knuckle boom ensures a constant speed over the entire movement range.
Specifications
- large reach with short parking length
- protected boom system up to grapple end
- large slewing torque of 16kNm
- patented EPSLINK
- 4.5t rotator
- quality and expertise from Austria
- S700 fine grain steel rolled by VOEST
- cathodic dip-painting & powder coating
- safety equipment (emergency stop, etc.)

The second-largest forestry crane by STEPA has a lifting moment of 6.2 mt and a reach of 9.5 m. The large telescope range of 4.2 m enables a large reach without putting too great demand on the guides and ropes. The standard knuckle cylinder protection prevents damage to the cylinder, even when working with longer timber.

- cathodic dip-painting & powder coating
- safety equipment (emergency stop, etc.)

STEPA’s top-of-the-line models has a 9m or 10m reach and a lifting moment of 7mto or 8mt. This means that even the heaviest timber can be loaded.
Specifications
- Protected boom system up to grapple end
- Large slewing torque of 18kNm or 20kNm

- Cathodic dip-painting & powder coating
- Safety equipment (emergency stop, etc.)/li>

The forestry crane with an 8.0 m reach is available in two lifting classes. The options being a 4.2 or 5.2 to lifting moment. All are fitted with an Epsilon cylindrical slewing mechanism. The main benefit of all Z cranes with articulation is the significantly greater lifting capacity, particularly in the upper part of the boom position. You can read more about this in the highlights.
Specifications
- articulation between column and lifting boom
- patented EPSLINK
- 4.5 t rotator
- large slewing torque of up to 20kNm
- S700 fine grain steel rolled by VOEST
- low tare weight and large lifting capacity
- quality and expertise from Austria
- cathodic dip-painting & powder coating
- safety equipment (emergency stop, etc.)/li>

The new FZ cranes from STEPA has an larger lifting moment up to 8 mt and a reach of 9.0 m. This not only means that larger timber can be lifted, it also means that work can continue downwards on steep slopes.

Accessories

Protected internal hoses
In all of STEPA’s double telescopic forestry cranes, the hoses are internally routed in the arm system, providing great protection against damage. This means that work can be carried out safely, minimising the risk of damaging the hoses on the knuckle boom with machinery.

Robust & protected flap-down stabiliser with non-return valve
STEPA’s flap-down stabiliser is stronger and better protected due to its closed-body design. The ideal design of the flap reduces the pivot radius and provides a short support with a large reach.

EPSLINK link
EPSILON’s patented link-rotator-combination with internally routed hoses provides maximum protection during work for hoses between the crane and the grapple.

Cathodic dip-painting & powder coating
All main components in STEPA forestry cranes & forestry trailers are cathodic dip-painted and powder coated. This high-quality type of paintwork guarantees that STEPA products will still look good after years of use and helps keep the resale value high.

Crane column with cast iron lower section
The use of a high-strength crane column base guarantees that the operator will have a safe working environment even after years of use as damage to the crane column is ruled out.

Spherical roller bearings in the cast iron column
All STEPA cranes with the cylinder slewing system from EPSILON are equipped with a large, maintenance-free spherical roller bearing as the lower crane column mounting. This takes on all loads and at the same time guarantees that the crane can be controlled with extreme accuracy even when it is load-bearing.

Double slewing system
All STEPA cranes with a cylinder slewing system from EPSILON have a bottom-mounted double slewing system that runs in an oil bath and is therefore maintenance-free. The two solid racks have a strong slewing torque and long durability even with the toughest jobs.

Z crane articulation
The articulation between the crane column and the main boom assures the main boom’s constant working speed throughout the entire movement range. The lifting capacity in the upper boom settings is also up to 60% greater than in cranes without an articulation.

L crane articulation
The articulation between the main boom and the knuckle boom assures the main boom’s constant speed throughout the entire movement range.

Safety equipment
All STEPA cranes are fitted as standard with an emergency stop switch, hose breakage throttles, seat stop switch, safety non-return valve on the stabiliser, a convenient and safe step with non-slip entrance, a large control station and much more. As such, the STEPA cranes are among the safest in the industry.

Log grapple
All STEPA log grapples have large bearings and sophisticated grapple geometry. They are available in three sizes.
